    The Case of The HongKong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB)
    The main section of the HongKong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) is three long-span steel cable-stayed bridges. In order to achieve the special qualities of low water resistance, noninterference to the three-dimensional traffic line of water, land and air, environment-friendliness, and traffic safety, the HZMB is designed to integrate bridge, island and tunnel to form a complete cross-sea channel. The whole bridge shows an S-shaped curve, and the axial direction of the pier is roughly consistent with the direction of the water flow.

    孟凡超,1959年12月生,四川遂宁人,高中就读于遂宁中学。1982年7月毕业于重庆交通学院(现重庆交通大学)桥梁与隧道专业,工学学士,从事公路特大型桥梁勘察设计30余年。现任中交公路规划设计院有限公司董事、副总经理。兼任中国土木工程学会桥梁及结构工程分会、混凝土及预应力混凝土分会和中国公路学会桥梁和结构工程分会副理事长,国际桥梁协会委员,中国《土木工程学报》编委会委员,交通运输部专家委员会委员,国内知名桥梁专家。 Meng Fanchao was born in December 1959 in Suining, Sichuan province. He studied at Suining Middle School for high school. In July 1982, he graduated from the Department of Bridge and Tunnel Engineering of Chongqing Jiaotong University and won a bachelor degree of engineering. He has been engaged in the survey and design of highway super-large bridges for more than 30 years. He is currently the director and deputy general manager of CCCC Highway Consultants Co.,Ltd, and is also the vice chairman of Branch of Bridge and Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering Society of China (CESC) and Branch of Concrete and Prestressed Concrete. He is also a member of International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), editorial board of Civil Engineering Journal, China, and a member of Ministry of Transport Expert Committee. In one word, he is a well-known Chinese bridge expert.

    林鸣,中国交建总工程师,自2010年12月起,担任港珠澳大桥岛隧工程项目总经理、总工程师,率领数千建设大军奔赴珠江口伶仃洋,开始了攀登世界工程技术高峰的创新之路。2015年4月28日被中共中央、国务院授予2015年“全国劳动模范”荣誉称号,2014年 4月21日荣获“2014年感动交通十大年度人物”称号。2018年4月,获得2018年“最美职工”荣誉称号。 2018年11月,荣获第三届“百名网络正能量榜样” Lin Ming, the chief engineer of China Communications Construction Company Ltd., has served as the general manager and chief engineer of the HongKong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island Tunnel Project since December 2010. Under his leadership, thousands of construction engineers and workers came to the Lingdingyang Bay, Pearl River Estuary (China), and then began their journey on the innovative path that leads to the world's engineering and technological peaks. On April 28, 2015, he was awarded the honorary title of “National Model Worker” by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council. On April 21, 2014, he was awarded “2014 Top Ten People in the Field of Transportation Who Have moved China”. In April 2018, he was awarded the title of "The Best Employee". In November 2018, he was listed among the third session of “100 Model Chinese with Positive Influential Energy Online”.

    The opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has greatly shortened the distance of space and time between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau. As a milestone in China's transition from a country with big bridges to a country with the best bridges, the HongKong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has been hailed as the “Mt. Everest” in bridge engineering. It is labeled as one of "the Seven Wonders of the Modern World" by the British media The Guardian. It not only represents the advanced level of China's bridges engineering, but also reflects the national strength of China. The construction of the HongKong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a great measure by the Chinese Central Government to support the rapid development of Hong Kong, Macao and cities in the Pearl River Delta. It is a major achievement of close cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao under the "one country, two systems" principle.
